Dwight David Eisenhower (1890-1969): Five star General of the U.S. Army, Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe during World War II, and 34th President of the United States (1953-1961). Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas in 1890 and attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY.
President Eisenhower flashes his famous smile as he receives a copy of the 4-H Report to the Nation, April 17, 1953. Iredell County [North Carolina] club member Francis Pressley (next to Eisenhower), who was on hand for the presentation, has since become a leader in international 4-H activities.
