John Wesley Cell (1907-1967): Dr. John Wesley Cell was a member of the NCSU Mathematics Department for 32 years. He served as Department Head from 1957 until his death in 1967. In 1943, he was named as first recipient of the Faculty Award by the North Carolina State Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, national honorary engineering and scholarship fraternity. During World War II, Dr. Cell helped direct rocket research for the United States Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
