Description:

Jackson A. Rigney (1913-1998): Rigney joined the State College faculty in 1938 as Assistant Professor in Crop Science. He was Head of the Department of Experimental Statistics from 1949 to 1962, and Dean of International Programs. Rigney served as Acting Chancellor from July 1975 to January 1976. He retired in 1981.
Jackson Rigney served as Interim Chancellor of North Carolina State University from 1975-1976, between the terms of John Caldwell and Joab Thomas.
William Clyde Friday (1920-): Born in Raphine, Virginia in 1920, but raised in Dallas, NC. President Emeritus of the University of North Carolina System, Friday served as President of the UNC System from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. A graduate of both NCSU and UNC, Chapel Hill, where educational centers have been named in honor of Bill and his wife, Ida.
