Leslie Graham Berry (1878-1931): "Berry Residence Hall . . . is named after Leslie Graham Berry (1878-1931). Berry was nicknamed "Slide Rule" by his fellow civil engineering students because of his skill with the, then new, device that simplifies complex computations. Berry designed the first wind tunnel at Langley Field, which was large enough to test full-sized airplanes of the time, and organized the Southern Engineering Company. He also patented the "Berry Method" of constructing reinforced concrete buildings."--http://www.ncsu.edu/facilities/buildings/berry.html |
