Description:

Holladay Hall (Raleigh, N.C.)
Holladay Hall was built in 1889 by prisoners from the state’s penitentiary, and was the first building of the new North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now North Carolina State University). It was called the Main Building until 1915. In 1915, the building was renamed after Alexander Quarles Holladay (1839-1909), who served as the first president of the university from 1889-1899.
