The Joab L. Thomas speech and letter of commendation includes a copy of A Resolution of Commendation for Chancellor Joab L. Thomas, passed unanimously by the Student Senate (1981 April 15). There is also a transcription from a tape of Thomas' remarks to deans, directors, and department heads at the time of his resignation as chancellor and the announcement of his appointment as president of the University of Alabama (1981 March 25).
