Triangle Universities Computation Center established
The Triangle Universities Computation Center was established by NC State, Duke University, and UNC-Chapel Hill in the Research Triangle Park. It was one of the world's largest university computing centers.
1967
David W. Chaney became dean of textiles
David W. Chaney became Dean of the School of Textiles in 1967 and served in that position until 1981. With 25 years of industrial research, Chaney arrived from the Chemstrand Research Center at Research Triangle Park. He was the first person with an earned PhD named dean of the School of Textiles.
