The Grinnells Animal Health Laboratory was named for Claude Delbert Grinnells, professor of Animal Husbandry at NC State for 33 years. He was named North Carolina Veterinarian of the Year in 1958.

Dr. Gonzalez, who spoke seven languages, became head of the Department of Modern Languages. Originally from Spain, Gonzalez had previously been associate head of Hispanic languages and literature at the University of Pittsburgh.

The State College Station Post Office was renamed the State University Station Post Office.
