1930s
1940s
Willis Casey was the men's swimming and diving coach from 1946 to 1957 and 1959 to 1970. The team went on to win or share wins for sixteen Southern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championships over the next thirty years.
Bill Despres captured first place in the National Junior 300 yard Individual Medley Championship of America and was the first swimmer from NC State to capture a national championship.
1950s
Swimmer Bob Mattson won the first of four consecutive All-American honors. In 1955, he became State's first NCAA champion, winning the 200-yard breaststroke.
Swimmer Dick Fadgen won seven NCAA and AAU individual championship swimming events between 1954 and 1956.
1960s
Swimmer Steve Rerych won medals at the Mexico City Olympics for the 4 x 100 freestyle and 4 x 200 freestyle. At NC State, Rerych was a three-time All-American and nine-time ACC champion. He was the only person in ACC swimming and diving history to be three-time champion in three different events. Rerych was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and the NC State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
1970s
Don Easterling served as men's swimming coach from 1970 to 1995. Under his leadership, the team won 15 ACC Championship titles.
NC State won the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming championship with the largest number of points ever scored and broke seven swimming records in the process.
Swimmer Mark Elliott won multiple gold medals at the World University Games.
Swimmers warming up for the State vs. South Carolina swim meet jumped screaming from the pool as electric timers in the pool malfunctioned and shocked the swimmers.
Swimmers Steve Gregg and Dan Harrigan won medals for the U.S. at the summer Olympics in Montreal.
Swimmer Steve Gregg was the first Wolfpack athlete to have All-American status for 4 years in a row. He also became the first person to win 4 ACC championships in the same event (200 butterfly), and in 1976 he was an NCAA champion. Gregg was one of the first NC State athletes to win an NCAA title and was a member of the 1976 U.S. Olympic team. In 2013, he was inducted into the NC State Hall of Fame.
1980s
Duncan Goodhew won a gold medal for Great Britain in the 100 meter breaststroke at the Moscow Olympics.
Don Easterling was named ACC's "Coach of the Year" in 1984 and 1992.
Rob Stull, a member of the men's swimming and diving team, competed in the Olympics modern pentathlon event in the 1984, 1988, and 1992 games. He also made the men's fencing epee team in the 1988 Olympics.
Nickos Fokianos made the Greek Olympic team for the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke and the 4 x 100 meter medley relay.
1990s
While a student-athlete at NCSU, David Fox won seven ACC titles, one NCAA title, and was the recipient of the Alumni Association Athletic Trophy in 1993. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA, he won a gold medal as part of the U.S. 4 x 100-meter relay team.
Carlos Santander made Venezuelan Olympic team for the 200 meter freestyle, the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay, and the 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay.
2000s
Cullen Jones won a gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay in Beijing. He was also ACC Swimmer of the Year in 2006.
Dan Velez made the Puerto Rican Olympic team for the 100 meter breaststroke.
2010s
Andreas Vazaios made the Greek Olympic team for the 200 meter individual medley. He would also make the Greek Olympic team for the 200 meter individual medley and the 4 x 100 meter medley relay in the 2016 Olympics. He was named ACC swimmer of the year in 2018.
Simonas Bilis made the Lithuanian Olympic team for the 50 and 100 meter freestyle and the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay. He was named ACC Swimmer of the Year in 2015 and 2016.
Ryan Held won a gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay in Rio de Janeiro. He was named ACC swimmer of the year in 2017.
Søren Dahl made the Danish Olympic team for the 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay.
Anton Ipsen made the Danish olympic team for the 1500 meter freestyle and the 400 meter freestyle.
2020s
Kacper Stokowski won an NCAA championship title in the 100 meter backstroke.
